 Yunnan Aluminium Co. Ltd. is a limited company established by Yunnan Metallurgy Group General Company, which initiated exclusively by transforming its sole subsidiary Yunnan Aluminium Factory's operational assets integrally into a public company. It was set up formally on March 20, 1998, and issued public shares 'YAGF' in Shenzhen Stock Exchange on April 8. It is a selective and key enterprise and a major provider of profits and tax in Yunnan Province, with its present 2800 employees, 230,000t overall capacity including 130,000t smeltery aluminium, 60,000t carbon, and 40,000 processed aluminium, total assets RMB 2.3 billion, and net assets 1.0 billion.
The predecessor of the company Yunnan Aluminium Factory was initiated in 1970, and experienced four development stages of ' laborious creation from penniless', 'standing up by becoming profitable', 'making rapid progress to be overmatch', and 'carving out again to retain outstanding' in the past 30 years. The company continuously expanded through self-accumulating, self-developing, and 'snowballing'. Compared with start-up period, 30 years later, Yunnan Aluminium has 44 times more electrolyzing capacity, nearly 77 times more overall capacity, 137 times more corporate total assets, 147 times more net assets, and a labor productivity improved almost 20 times. In three decades, the company accumulated ￥975 million profits and tax for the State, and created a miracle of 23 sequential year without losses since. In the three years after transformation (1998-2000), the company generated ￥240 million profits, ￥115 million tax, and US$80m, and developed rapidly.
In many years, Yunnan Aluminium has been honoured with China Non-ferrous Metal General Company Enterprise Management 'Gold Eagle Prize', Metallurgy Ministry Superior Red Flag, Yunnan Province Enterprise Management Excellence Prize, Two Civilization Construction Advance Unit, 'AAA' Bank Credit Rate , and nearly a hundred other titles. The company was awarded the title of 'National Green-making Advance Unit' and 'Wu Yi' Woring Prize Diploma in 1996, became one of 512 stated owned enterprises supported emphatically by the state in 1997. In 1998, the company obtained ISO9002 Quality System authentication certificate, became of provincial 'Management Grade One Enterprise' and one of the first batch of 'Enterprise Achieved Management Excellence', and was identified as one of China's thirteen pivot aluminium enterprises. In 2000, it passed ISO14001 International Environment-protection Authentication, became one of China's ' 100 Environment Protection High and New Technology Enterprises', and was assessed as one of 200 National Credit Extension Pivot Enterprises by China Industrial and Commercial Bank Head Office. Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2000 recognized the company as an experimental company of 'listed company report ex-post auditing' and exempted auditing in advance.
Yunnan Aluminium Co. Ltd. is an all-round listed company integrated Aluminium Metallurgy and Processing Operation, its major products are: ten series and more than a hundred types of products registered as 'Yunhai' brand, including:
 remelting aluminium ingot, pro-bake anodic aluminium, casting and rolling aluminium, cold-rolling aluminium plate, extruding section aluminium, aluminium disk for toothpaste packaging, aluminium rode, casting aluminium alloy and domestic aluminium appliance, etc. Among them, remelting aluminium ingot, section aluminium, aluminium alloy, and casting and rolling aluminium are produced in accordance with international standards, and have been awarded with the honours of provincial outstanding, ministry outstanding, and provincial name-brand products. 'Yunhai' remelting aluminium ingot is exempted from imports and exports checkout. Its products are sold well and welcomed heartily by users in domestic market, Europe, America, Japan, and Southeast Asian countries and regions.
In August 2000, Yunnan Aluminium Ninth Five-Year-Plan Environment Harness & Energy Saving Technological Transformation Project was completely put into production. The epochal project used RMB 1.5 billion, adopted international advance and domestic first class 200,000 series 186kA large-scale pre-baking electrobath equipment, resolved environmental problems fundamentally. It saved energy, improved productivity, and was listed as key project of Yunnan Province Ninth Five-Year-Plan and national 'Shuang Jia' project. The company was remarkably strengthened, and its production dimension vaulted into industry national top 5.
