  The company has 2810 employees, including 972 different classes technical staff, i.e. 34.6% of all the employees, with colleage or technical school background. Overall, there are 604 engineering and technical personnel in the company, among them, 7 with senior title, 79 with medium-grade title, and 518 with elementary title. High quality staff and excellent education and training system could satisfy well the requirement of a high and new technological enterprise. In its continuous expansion, the company accumulated abundant experience and technology, and established a formidable technology force.
  In 1999, the company founded its technology innovation center, which consists of technology and quality management section, energy plan and control office, quality examination section, information office, and combined the function of both technology and quality management departments. The company always retains a technological transformation project headquarter. It has reallocated its technological resources to be more optimized, steadily established and consummated its technological innovation and transformation system. In every secondary production unit, there is a technology management network consisting of general engineer, vice general engineer, chief engineers and vice chief engineers. Furthermore, considering the staff characteristics and corporate development objectives, the company use different fashion when making annual plan, for the renovation of employees knowledge and skills, which would be discussed and implemented strictly as an important part of annual operation plan.
  In the years between 1978 and 1995, Yunnan Aluminium had successively completed a dozen of vital technological transformation projects, built four electronlyzed aluminium, processed aluminium, and section aluminium production lines, developed and produced nine series and more than 100 types of products. The five year of Ninth Five-Year-Plan is a period of time during which Yunnan Aluminium carved out again by developing rapidly and leaping forward. In five years, Yunnan Aluminium invested RMB 1.5 billion in a first technological transformation project, adopted internationally advance and domestic first class 186kA large-scale pre-baking electrobath, completely transformed the original 60kA production line, and improved greatly the company's technology equipment and technological content. During the same period, pre-baking anodic carbon production line of 60,000t annual capacity, together with cold-rolling production line of annual capacity of 12,000t annual capacity, was built. Later, the construction of electric aluminium rode production, with its 20,000t annual capacity, increased further the overall strength of the company, improve its capability to contend in both domestic and international market. Only two years after being put into production in 1998, the first technological transformation project achieved the designed output and standards, and its major technological and economic indicators achieved or exceeded design requirement. During the period of Tenth Five-Year-Plan, Yunnan Aluminium would invest RMB 1.7 billion more to acquire the most sophisticated technical equipment in the world--300kA extra-large pre-baking electrobath, complete the construction of Ninth Five-Year-Plan sequential project, increase aluminium output to 300,000t and overall capacity to 500,000t.
  In the continuous development and expansion, Yunnan Aluminium always relied on technological progress to promote the all-round development of production. It pays great attention to enterprise technological progress and received fruitful reward from organizing technological study and technical problem solving activities in accordance with production needs.
